Subject: Update from Kenya

Hey all!

Greetings from Nairobi!  We arrived late on Monday night after 24 hours of travel, very sad to discover that it is cold season here. Still cold here is still warm compared to Calgary.

Tuesday was spend doing a bit of orientation and combating jet lag and joining in at the chapel service with the students who attend Pan African Christian University, where we are staying.

Wednesday was amazing!  We spent the morning at Happy Life Children's Home, a home for abandoned babies.  We took a tour of the home where over 55 babies live ranging from 1 week old to 8 years old.  When we got to the nursery, full of cribs with babies staring at us with big brown eyes, reaching out their little hands, we all disolved into little puddles on the floor.  We each grabbed a baby and went to the playroom.  I had two! One a little girl called Tahilla!  We sat there playing with them, giving them hugs and kisses, and the wonderful ladies that work there kept bringing in more babies.  Next thing I knew, there we were were, 7 Canadians with 30 babies!  We stayed through being able to feed them lunch, then we sadly had to go.   From there we went to a local high scool to meet the principle, an amazing lady on fire for God.  This is the school where we are going to have a big rally/crusade on Saturday.  Kids from the school and the surrounding area are going to be coming out.  We will be working alongside Tehillah Kenya to teach workshops on purity, worship, peer pressure, poverty mentality and discipleship. Then we are going to have a big concert.  We are beliveving for salvations and miracles!  Then Wednesday night we went to Dandora All Nations Church to lead the evening Bible Study.

Today is Thursday!  And I woke up not a happy camper due to the unfortunate hockey news.  Luckily I am surrounded by people who do not care and I don't have to talk about it.  Today we are heading to the Christ our Refuge Home, which is a home for babies with HIV.  We will be cooking them lunch and helping paint the building.  Apparently we are going to cook them an authentic African meal!  Juan is leading a devotions this morning for a discipleship class on campus.  Christine has left to go spend the day visiting her Compassion sponsor child.  This evening we will be helping lead the youth service at the Dandora Church.

We are having such a great time, especially spending time with Stanley & Christa and their beautiful baby girl, Hilary.  Keep praying!  The best is yet to come :)

Blessings,
Sara
