The Beginnings
Tehillah Monday was founded under the covering of First Assembly Church in Calgary, Alberta. An excellent leader by the name of Tom Morris along with a team of pastors including Kenn Gill and Bob Gal established this meeting in the early '90s. This dynamic ministry team birthed Tehillah Monday with the purpose of creating a city-wide gathering for young adults who would be able to seek and worship God in a way relevant to their generation. Under the leadership of Tom Morris and another capable young man Wayne Adams, the ministry grew in numbers and influence and the city-wide experience called Tehillah Monday was born.
The Transition
In 1994, leadership of Tehillah Monday was handed over to Steve and Heather Osmond who then proceeded to build the ministry and team with new purpose and passion. In 1998, Greg and Heather Gill joined the team followed by Jon and Bryar Strutt in 2000 as youth pastors with heavy involvement in the development of musicians and leaders. Jen Koehn and Becky Leonard served as the administration backbone to Tehillah Monday for over 6 years.
The Explosion
In January of 1997, evangelist John Raymer imparted an impacting message at Tehillah Monday. A powerful move of the Spirit of God began that night with over 60 students receiving Jesus Christ. Week after week following this breakthrough, dozens of students began receiving Christ. This produced a powerful revival season. The news of this outpouring quickly spread throughout the city of Calgary and across Canada. Soon a full-blown regional revival movement was born in First Assembly Church. In the years following, an estimated 5000-6000 people received Jesus Christ and many more were filled with the Holy Spirit. From this, the vision was received to plant Tehillahs across Canada. The first born was Tehillah Toronto in 1999 and there is a growing network of Tehillah's all over Canada and the world.
The Ministry Today
Fifteen years later, Tehillah Monday still exists with its original purpose of being an exciting city-wide gathering for young adults. In 2005 Chris & Amanda King joined the staff at first assembly giving oversight and Direction to Tehillah Monday! With a current representation of over 40 churches weekly at our Monday night gatherings, Tehillah continues to impact this generation and provide a unique environment for individuals to Experience Jesus in a way that is personal and real to them!
