Seek Justice - by Sara Curdie

Isaiah 1:17 says to "seek justice, encourage the oppressed.  Defend the cause of the fatherless ..."

I've been thinking about this alot lately.  How do we seek justice?  To seek means to look for, discover, question, find out.  How do we live our lives justly?  Well, I'm thinking we need to make ourselves more aware and find out the moral implications of our actions and how we live our lives.  I've been greatly challenged by the thought that I am the last link in the supply chain for some products.  So, when I buy a certain chocalate bar, for instance, do I know where the cocoa beans came from?  Do I know if the labour practices used to farm them are ethical and not using child labour?  It's pretty darn inconvenient to try to find these things out!  And when I do find out, am I willing to make changes in my lifestyle?  Am I willing to consume less, give more, and be consiously aware of what I am consuming?  Am I willing to ask the question "Am I wearing someone's misery?  Did I just eat someone's desperation?"
